Riehen<\/p>\n<p><strong> ABOUT THE WORK OF CATRIN L\u00dcTHI K<\/strong><br \/>\nIn her current work the artist explores urban environments and their architectural elements. Her approach is to analyse areas of a city for their overall structure and specific buildings. With time the city\u2019s processes of development and growth become revealed and have inspired L\u00fcthi to explore the theme of transition in her work. Often her method of work begins with familiarizing herself with a particular locality and then making photographic scetches of her observations. The scetches, typically capturing aspects of a city such as destruction and excavation, assembling, layering, gaps, boundaries and territories, are used to develop three dimensional objects and site &#8211; specific installations. She uses raw materials: concrete, plaster, wood, cardboard. Her use of these reflects systems of construction. Their surface texture tells of non-disclosure and timelessness.
